Kenyon’s elder law practice utilizes and works with a variety of tools and techniques to meet the goals
and objectives of the older client and those with disabilities and special needs. Our services include but are not limited to:
- Counseling clients about planning for disability and incapacity.
- Preparing alternative decision making documents including
durable general powers of attorney, living wills, wills and trusts.
- Medicaid Planning: Protecting the client’s assets from the
cost of nursing home or other long term care. Assuring security
for the client’s spouse and providing a legacy for his or
her children. Guiding clients through the Medicaid application and
qualification process.
- Guardianship: Assisting a family member in becoming guardian
of the person and property of a loved one and ensuring that the
loved one will be secure and cared for. Advising the family member named as guardian with regard to ongoing compliance matters required of him or her.
- Special Needs Trusts: Advising clients with regard to
the preparation, administration and when required, litigation, of
trusts designed to preserve a disabled person’s eligibility
for public assistance benefits (e.g. Medicaid, SSI and other programs
for the disabled).
